I discovered you can disable the Zoom mini-window (in Linux at least, probably others too) in the config file, which has drastically improved my experience. Edit ~/.config/zoomus.conf and change the value enableMiniWindow=true to enableMiniWindow=false.

Canadian vampires are much more dangerous than the Transylvania ones because when they transform it's into geese

I don't think it's a *conspiracy*, but a person with business ties all over, buying an influential platform right before an election, firing most of the election security team, & having the 2nd largest shareholder being the Saudi sovereign wealth fund isn't a great *situation*

The new David Pumpkins sketch looks like they lost the original suit and just Amazon Prime'd a knockoff suit the day before shooting

I don't know what the deal is but I've seen a marked increase in spam across all my channels the last month or so: Email, phone, SMS, LinkedIn, gDrive. It's driving me crazy. I'm almost afraid to turn my ham radio on.

Bit of a deep cut, but I feel like Star Trek Enterprise's finale gets a lot of hate while the last Bob Newhart show finale gets so much praise for doing basically the same thing

Ok I did the thing where you filter out emails containing the word "unsubscribe" and this is game changing

A neat post on LWN covers different key management solutions for WireGuard (one of my favorite newer technologies). An interesting one is an OSS implementation of Tailscale's server (Headscale) that Tailscale seems to unofficially support! lwn.net/SubscriberLink/910766/7678f8c4ede60928/

Curious about why FIDO/WebAuthn is theoretically phishing proof, and what that means for the future of multi-factor authentication? I do a brief explainer here: youtu.be/9vxLMyCLDLs

Years ago, the first time I moved to a place that had public transit and wasn't *overwhelmingly* designed for cars was awakening I just truly hadn't considered that people could reasonably participate in society without being required to have a depreciating ~$10k+ asset

I wish browsers had a password manager API similar to Android/iOS so that it would *replace* the default password/autofill service instead of fighting it

When I managed a small IT team my manager told me we we'd be starting a pager rotation for the first time. 1 week/month per person. When asked what $$ adjustment we'd offer with this big responsibility increase he said: None because the job description includes "other duties" QuinnyPig/1582170529904984065

I feel the folks frustrated at signalapp dropping SMS have valid concerns but for a world that no longer exists RCS is coming like it nor not, Google, Samsung & the 3 major US carriers support/actively push it. There's no equivalent RCS API for Android and SMS in non-US is rare

Anyone know if there's a way to use Whatsapp on Android *without* giving access to your full contacts list? I'd love it to only be able to let it see people I Whatsapp with instead of my entire contact list. (I'm not rooted)

I have literally never heard of a car alarm *helping* anyone ever. Their only purpose is causing pain.

I get the whole Signal SMS thing but last year over 3B people used chat apps. Not sure having multiple chat apps is the barrier to entry it once was. (Esp. since Signal can't support RCS, so keeping SMS support could actually reduce total e2ee messages) businessofapps.com/data/messaging-app-market/

The more I work with people I've come to the realization that coming to the correct conclusion, and persuading people that you came to the correct conclusion are two completely distinct skill sets
